Is It Hot In Here Or Is It Just Me?

 

Dr. Mary Battilocchi, N.D., naturopathic doctor, will present a talk for the Breast Cancer Survival Center on dealing with symptoms of menopause, especially hot flashes, “Is It Hot In Here Or Is It Just Me?”  The talk will be given on Tuesday, March 22, at 5 p.m. at the Fairfield County Women’s Center, Room 116, West Campus, Norwalk Community College, as part of BCSC’s special speaker series.

 

Dr. Battilocchi received her Naturopathic Doctor degree from the Bastry University of Naturopathic Medicine in Washington State in 1993, and her B.S. in Biology from Hunter College, New York City.  She has been practicing Naturopathic Medicine for 15 years, 12 years in Connecticut.  In addition to receiving extensive training in herbal medicine, homeopathy, physical medicine and nutrition, she has also trained in the use and application of Oriental Medicine, including acupuncture.

 

Dr. Battilocchi, whose office is in Milford, specializes in women’s health, including fertility and menopause; children’s health, including attention deficit disorder, ear aches, colds and flu, skin conditions; cardiovascular disorders including cholesterol and blood pressure problems; thyroid, diabetes, and other endocrine conditions; allergies, both environmental and food; arthritis, chronic pain, and lyme disease.

 

Her talk on March 22 for the Breast Cancer Survival Center will include natural hormone therapies and their efficacy compared to HRT, the risk factors of HRT, the testing of hormones and lab work for the menopausal condition, herbal supplements for menopause, and vitamin/mineral supplements.  Diet will also be discussed, as well as the role of chemical heavy metals and xenobiotics in increasing menopausal symptoms – and how to test for and eliminate these problems.
