Breast Cancer Survival Center Presents Talk on Relieving Stress

The Breast Cancer Survival Center, the only direct service not-for-profit organization in the state of Connecticut exclusively devoted to providing post-treatment education and support for breast cancer survivors and their families, will present “Reducing Stress Through Meditation,” April 25, 2006, at Norwalk Community College.

The facilitator will be Fran M. Palumbo, a certified Reiki therapist and hypnotherapist, who changed the course of her own life in 1985 when she taught herself to meditate. She credits a commitment to meditation to finding the path to inner peace.

“In these unprecedented times,” she says, “each of us is searching ways to have more balance and peace, whether at work or in our personal lives.  Meditation or personal reflection can give people the skills to adapt fluidly to life’s changes and challenges, stay balanced in spite of stressful situations, maintain a positive attitude, and ultimately find individual inner peace.”

Fran will give an introduction to meditation that will cover such topics as posture and methods of dealing with wandering thoughts, and other concerns people may have about meditation practices.  She will also talk about how to apply meditation to our daily lives, and give tips to get through particularly stressful situations.  The presentation will conclude with a practice meditation session.

“Reducing Stress Through Meditation” will be presented at 5:30 p.m. on April 25 in the Fairfield County Women’s Center, Room 116, West Campus, Norwalk Community College, 188 Richards Avenue, Norwalk.

There is no charge for the presentation, but space is limited and pre-registration is suggested.  BCSC voice mail: 203-857-7304; web site: www.breastcancersurvival.org.;  e-mail: cancersurvival@aol.com.
